Click image for larger version. © David Hastings) Description L: 14cm Small and rather nondescript, Cetti's Warbler is a skulking bird and is usually very difficult to see. It makes its presence known with loud bursts of song, and the first glimpse will probably be of a dark, rather stocky warbler with short wings and a full, rounded tail, diving for cover. It is mainly found in southern England and South Wales. Its preferred habitat is damp areas, including ponds, lakes, marshes and rivers. Cetti's Warbler first bred in the UK in 1972. It is resident all year round. The population can crash during severe winters. It has Green status on the UK list. There are around 2000 breeding males in Britain.
