Description

L: 15 - 16 cm

This species is the eastern equivalent of M. flava. It is now regarded as a species in its own right. There are many recognised subspecies.

It breeds in temperate Asia and has a foothold in Alaska. Vagrants occasionally appear in western Europe.

It breeds in open country near water, such as wet meadows.

It is regarded as of Least Concern by the IUCN.
