Description

WS: 90 - 100mm (m), 106 - 116 mm (f); L: 77 - 84mm (m), 88 - 96mm (f)

The largest goldenring species, and one of the largest European dragonflies. Replaces the Common Goldenring in most of its range.

This species is endemic to south-eastern Europe, but its north-eastern range limits are poorly understood.

It prefers streams or sometimes small rivers, often in forests but also on open moors and heaths.

The flight period is from the end of May to late August.
