Description

Family: Polyommatinae

Wing span: 29 - 36mm

Both sexes have plain brown upper surfaces with brown fringes. The underside is yellowish-brown and there is a white streak through the centre of the hind wing.

It is very sporadic with widely dispersed local populations in S and C Europe.

It can be found in dry meadows, glades and mountain slopes up to 2000m.

There is one brood per year in July and August.

Larvae feed on perennial sainfoins (Onobrychis spp).
