(1/160th sec at f14. © David Hastings) DescriptionFamily: Polyommatinae Wing span: 18 - 22 mm A very small butterfly with slender tails on the hindwing. The underside is white with numerous black lines. The male has blue-grey uppersides, whereas the female is greyish-brown. Rather widespread but very sporadic and locally uncommon in SE Europe. It is also widely found in north Africa and the Middle East. It is found in dry rocky scrub and grasslands with abundant larval host-plants. There are several broods from April to October. The larvae feed on Christ's Thorn (Paliurus spina-christi). Sightings
